The prevalence of overweight and obesity in Australian adults is rising year on year. In 2017-2018, two thirds of Australians 18 years and above were overweight or obese, and the figures continue to increase.
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, 32.4 percent of Queenslanders are now classified as obese, while another 33.5 percent are overweight.
To cater to larger patients who are unable to stand, Redcliffe Metro North Hospital & Health Services in Redcliffe, Queensland recently contacted A&D Weighing for a custom (one-off) chair scale.
With their requirements in mind, we manufactured a high capacity chair scale that is sturdy yet safe and comfortable for patients. Its features include:

- 700mm wide cushioned seat and back
- Rear lockable wheels
- Seat and step-on plate is live – to maintain support for the legs while weighing
- Powder coated construction
- Very sturdy scale
A&D Weighing are specialists in weighing equipment for the health sector, and we offer a good range of medical scales including hospital chair weighing scales, wheelchair scales, walk-on bariatric scales, and personal health scales.
We understand, however, that weighing scales are sometimes not “one size fits all”, and some customers require customised equipment. As one of Australia’s leading manufacturers of weighing scales, we are able to build custom measurement solutions to suit your needs.
The process for custom jobs is simple. All you need to do is send us an inquiry either over the phone or online, and one of our team members will get in touch with you to talk through your requirements.
Once the order is confirmed and placed, it usually takes about 4 to 5 weeks for the weighing system or equipment to be manufactured.
